Golf Trousers Review – Nike, Adidas, Stromberg And More
What things should you think about when choosing golf trousers for men. Price comes number one for most golfers but I bet you’ll also be thinking about style. You should also consider the performance you can expect from your trousers. As golfers we all want to look the part on the golf course. Not all golf trousers are made equal. Some are more thoughtfully designed and offer more function than others. So, when we consider all these factors which golf trousers come out on top?
Nike Golf Trousers – I’d like to start of by talking about Nike Golf Trousers as they are one of the first brands I think of when I think about value for money. I already have a number of Nike Polo Shirts and I consider them to be a great blend of style, function and at a good price. Nike has two different style: the dri-fit and tech pant. Both of these trousers are designed with on-course performance in mind. Both have a very youthful look and come in really attractive and modern colours.
Next on my value for money list is Adidas Golf Trousers. Like Nike, Adidas offer great style and performance at a good price. I grew up wearing Adidas training shoes and football boots so the brand kind of has a special place in my heart already. Along with its high performance golf shoes Adidas make excellent golf trousers. If you follow the European and PGA Tours then you must have noticed the smartly dressed Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson and Jason Day. All of these guys wear Adidas. The clima-cool range of trousers are made from a breathable synthetic sports fabric and as you’d expect are designed to keep you cool in hot weather.
One golf brand that deserves all the praise it gets is Stromberg Golf Trousers. Stromberg is real word-of-mouth marketing success. Most golfers know about these excellent trousers because they’ve seen their buddies wearing them or heard great things about them. Stromberg put all there thought and energy into just golf trousers and have a huge selection of styles to choose from. Stromberg has two main collections of trousers: the Stromberg Classic Golf Trousers; and the Stromberg Funky Golf Trousers. The classic line look like traditional chinos and offer a more genrous fit. The more youthful funky range come is a massive range of styles, colours and cuts. The stylish use of colour for stitching and trim around the pocket areas is noteable. Perhaps the most important benefit of Stromberg trousers is how functional they are. The front and rear pockets are well designed to hold and secure the items you’ll have in your pockets during a round. Tees, markers, pitch repair tool in the front; scorecard, yardage book in the rear. You’ll notice that the v-hems are designed to sit better over your golf shoes, the pockets are designed to take all your golf accessories and button secure properly and the material and cut allow you to swing the golf club without restriction.
You really can’t go wrong with the Nike, Adidas and Stromberg brands already mentioned but there are other golf trouser brands worth discussing. Ping also make a good selection of Golf Trousers but like there golf clubs they’re not cheap. Puma Golf Trousers as worn by Rickie Fowler and Johans Edfor are uber stylish and come in super funky colours. Talking of style you might want to consider J Lindeberg Golf Trousers who played a huge part in making golf trendy. Who can forget Jesper Parneviks funky outfits. Ian Poulter has his own brand, Ian J Poulter Design or IJP Design for short. If you like the way Poulter looks on the fairway then you’ll like his collections. The most famous of which are his tartan golf trousers range.
If you’re working on a tight budget then you should consider two brands that offer great value for money. These are Dwyers & Co Golf Trousers who make very traditional golf trousers that look and feel like a pair of chinos, and Cutter & Buck Golf Trousers which again have a classic look. Both brands incorporate tradition materials like cotton and wool to produce really comfortable and affordable golf trousers.
