How can I transfer my DVD collection to my Ipod?
I have several DVDs I’ve bought over the years and I still love watching them. I would like to be able to put them on my Ipod. How would I go about doing this? I’m not really tech savvy…so I need to know this as simple as possible.
The best one click software is
DVD Fab Gold, but it is not free, you’d have to shed out $40.

The beauty is, that this software bypass all possible copyright restrictions (incl. the newest one). Now since you do own the DVD collection and you wanna do it for your own “backup” (put them in computer/iPod) and NOT FOR BURNING A COPY TO GIVE TO YOUR FRIEND – then is it completely legal.
DVD Fab will let you choose your iPod and do the whole conversion in one step. You can even select subtitles if you want them.
There are free alternatives, but…. the problem is the source – DVD with copyright.
There is free Videora iPod Converter

but that will not work with DVD files. You need to create some other file first (like DivX AVI file or something).
For that you could use free Virtualdub-mpeg2 converter:

with DivX codec for encoding (the best all-in-one free codec package is KLM codecs:

But – here we are again… DVD copy protected disc will not let you copy and convert the VOB files. Since the free DVD decrypter had to be taken down from download sites, I do not know any free Software to cancel the copy protection. Thew only one I know apart from DVD Fab is AnyDVD -

which is free for 21 days and then you gotta pay or it stops working. So you can try this multistep method and finish all your DVD conversions before the 21 days trial period run out.
AnyDVD costs more than DVD Fab and has NO conversion software embedded – that is memory resident copy protection bypass program only and you gotta have something else to do the actual conversion work. So it is better to buy DVD Fab if you gonna spend some bucks.
